You may notice that in some of my posts I refer to certain terms which I have made to help get across my opinions in reviews. Here is a definitive list of them, with definitions – enjoy!
The ‘In My Head’ Test – If you have a song in your head for a whole day, do you love it, or do you grow to hate it? This test defines two things: how catchy a song is; and it’s staying power – how long it can last before it drives you crazy!
The ‘Spitting Feathers’ Factor – This refers to any song that I hear and can tell instantly that it is going to become a favorite. So called because Spitting Feathers by The Feeling was the first incidence of this happening in my life. Since then it has only happened on two other occasions – so if a song has The ‘Spitting Feathers’ Factor you know it must be amazing!
‘Disneyfication’ – In my opinion a truly ‘Disneyfied’ song is a song that is so cheesey and so diluted that it becomes completely artificial and just isn’t worth listening to. It’s meaningless as the song doesn’t come from a real place in the artist’s mind.
